- "BabelStone Erjian 2" is a Unicode font for Chinese ideographs (hanzi) which uses the experimental second stage simplified glyph forms defined in Tables 1 and 2 of the 《第二次汉字简化方案（草案）》 [Draft Plan for the Second Stage of the Simplification of Chinese Characters] published in December 1977. The font covers the 8,105 Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 characters listed in Tōngyòng Guīfàn Hànzì Zìdiǎn 通用规范汉字字典 (2013), as well as 51 other characters (8,156 in total). It has second stage simplified forms for the 270 individual characters listed in Table 1 and the 664 individual characters listed in Table 2, as well as 520 additional derived second stage simplified characters, in total 1,454 second stage simplified characters. In addition, the font uses OpenType technology to dynamically substitute simplified forms for 28 word-level simplifications. Note that all the second stage simplified glyphs are mapped to the corresponding standard simplified form of the character, even in those cases where the second stage simplication exists as an independent Unicode character.
