- Designed in 1997 by Brian Willson of Three Islands Press, Bonsai replicates the look of a print job done with worn, topheavy type. Its source happened to be a handbook on bonsai, the Japanese art of miniature trees, which its letterforms also resemble. Bonsai’s roman and true italic styles share a warm, accessible look and are legible even in large text blocks. Good for simulating retro materials circa the middle 20th century.
