- Schmetterling is a display typeface based on a mixture of two German types of different eras. It combines 2 opposite extremes, something super readable and understandable to the eye and something very decorative that is difficult to read. The base for the second was taken from German Blackletter writing, mostly Texture, but also Rotunda, Fraktur, etc. The DIN font was chosen as something clear and accessible.
