- Lekhana is ideal for the informal appearance of hand-written correspondence, but it is also suitable to use for body text. It has generous line-spacing and economical copyfit. “Lekhana” is a Pali word meaning “Writing.”A full range of Latin characters means it can be used for Pali, Sanskrit, Romanised Indic scripts, nearly all European languages, and Vietnamese. A comprehensive set of Currency symbols include glyphs Turkish Lira, which was added to the curremt Unicode 6.2 release. A basic Greek character set, and a wide range of symbols, extend its usefulness to other academic fields such as Maths and Science. Maths and currency symbols are designed on the figure width, while other symbols, arrows, and geometric shapes are a uniform width and align with the Caps height wherever the design permits. Lekhana includes OpenType features for Fractions and Alternative Fractions; Standard, Discretionary, and Historical Ligatures; OldStyle Figures, Ordinals, Superscripts, Subscripts, and Scientific Inferiors. Alternate Annotation forms, Ornaments, and Stylistic Sets give easy access to some of the many symbols in the font. The Denominator feature, which is used by the Fractions feature, may be used for baseline subscripts. Superscripts align with the tops of figures, while scientific inferiors bisect the baseline. You can modify the fonts as you wish or use any of the glyphs in your own fonts, as long as you accept the terms of the GNU Public License agreement. If modifying my fonts, rename your font and leave this description and the license links intact. I suggest using this description field to document any changes you have made, either before or after my description. None of this would have been possible without FontCreator from High-Logic. This excellent Truetype Font Editor made the task of editing these large fonts relatively easy.
